中国人常说：“死都不怕了，还怕什么？” 由此可见，对于绝大多数人来说，最可怕的事就是死亡。无神论者不相信有灵魂，只相信肉体死后就是完全不存在了，那时，所有的自我意识完全消失；绝大多数宗教相信有灵魂，肉体死后，灵魂或去天堂或去地狱，取决于肉体活着的时候是否行善或是否守律法规条。The Chinese often say, “If one is not afraid of death, what else is there to be afraid of?” From this we can see that for the vast majority of people, the most frightening thing is death. Atheists do not believe in the existence of a soul, but only believe that after the death of the body, the person will completely ceases to exist, and at that time, all self-consciousness will disappear completely; the majority of religions believe in the existence of a soul, and that after the death of the body, the soul will either go to heaven or hell, depending on whether or not the person has done enough good deeds or whether or not he or she has obeyed the laws and regulations during the time of his or her life.

基督徒不但相信有天堂和地狱，且相信有复活。由于人无法停止犯罪，所以无法通过行善或守律法规条而入天堂，但造物主已为人死、抵命除罪、且从死里复活，凡接受的人，其罪已除，从此才真有能力去行善和守律法。人肉体死后，都将复活，凡罪已除的人，复活入天堂有永生，凡罪没有除的人，复活入地狱受永刑（约5:29）。Christians believe not only in heaven and hell, but also in the resurrection. Since human beings cannot stop sinning, they cannot enter heaven by doing good works or keeping the laws and regulations. However, the Creator died for human beings, paid for their sins, and rose from the dead, and whoever accepts this has their sins taken away, and from then on they are truly capable of doing good works and keeping the laws. After the physical death, all men will be resurrected, and those whose sins have been removed will be resurrected to heaven and have eternal life, while those whose sins remain unremoved will be resurrected to hell and will be punished for all eternity (Jn. 5:29).
